Freedom and Vulnerability of
Going Solo
What's the drama with being a solo artist or spiritual solopreneur? I mean, there's so much freedom, creativity, and vulnerability in showing up as a solo artist or spiritual solopreneur. And I love all those qualities very much, yet the answer is somewhat in the name: SOLO.
The Solo Struggle Is Real
When you work from home alone, solitude can morph into a feeling of loneliness and overwhelm over time. I see this in myself and my Residents; we spent hours tweaking a single sales page, second-guessing every decision because there was no one to bounce ideas off of.
One Resident shared how she felt stuck between her creative vision and the practical demands of running a business.
You have to do everything yourself โ from branding to marketing, customer support, content creation (and being a mother too!), sales, and the list goes on! Empowering, YES! but up to a point. By the time Friday rolls around, I just want to hop on the couch with a bag of chips and some stand-up comedy.
This is precisely why I created Tabernacle Creative Residency. A teaching house where Done-With-You isn't just a promise. It's our weekly practice.
What it really means
Done-With-You
Picture this real-world scenario from last week:
You: "Erica, my sales page feels off, but I can't pinpoint why."
Me: rolls up sleeves "Send it over in a work critique. Let's fix this together."
You: "I'm stuck on my course curriculum."
Me: "Share your screen. Let's restructure this in real-time."
You: "Is my messaging clear enough?"
Me: opens your document. "Let me edit in suggestions, and you can accept what makes it sing."
Just last week, I spent 55 minutes on Zoom with a Resident, literally moving elements around in her mood board together. Collaboration is in the back-and-forth flow of ideas, those "What if we tried this?" moments that lead to breakthroughs.
This is why my Residents often say things like: "Finally, someone who can see what I'm trying to create and help me get there." "I didn't just learn โ I got it DONE."
When I say Done-With-You, I mean:
- Real-time feedback and edits on your work
- Design critiques that turn your visuals from good to great
- Expert eyes on your copy, layout, and strategy
- A community that celebrates your wins and supports your growth
What I'm Working On :
I'm deep in collaborative mode with our current cohort. On Friday, I helped a Resident find the right font combination to play with, while another Resident searched for the right mix of colors for her palette in Canva.
Moving from confusing to compelling through real-time editing and feedback.
What I'm Loving:
Our "Done-With-You" approach has evolved significantly over three years. Initially, I felt anxiety facing cluttered mood boards that reflected client doubts. Now, I trust the process. WhenResidents worry about marketing before defining their product, I remind them that creativity unfolds in its own time. Watching my Residents handle the intense workload of interviewing clients, defining products, and crafting promises, I know the quieter moments of integration await in Weeks Five and Six.
I've learned that the Universe offers unlimited ideas, designs, and combinations - we just need to create space for them to emerge through our real-time editing sessions and collaborative design sprints.
What I'm Celebrating:
The breakthroughs this week have been electric: Laura enrolled six people into her programs after we collaboratively simplified her messaging in last week's group call. Jill shared, "I feel like I'm finally getting down to the messages that I really do want to put out there," and Erika commented, "I feel like this is the missing component in my business."
These moments remind me why we do this workโit's about creative progress, allowing each person's genius to emerge while being fully supported.
