My week in sales
The Power of Perseverance
Dear friends and fellow seekers,
This week, I witnessed firsthand how perseverance can lead to unexpected opportunities. Buckle up; this is quite a rollercoaster ride of determination!
If You Don't See an Opportunity, Create One!
(Or at Least Hope Someone Is Watching)
I heard about a local yoga festival that seemed perfect for my work. But I was too late for a teaching spot. Game over, right? Not even close!
I turned myself into a friendly festival stalker, showing up to the sold-out pop-up event armed with my book and a well-practiced pitch. My target: the unreachable festival director.
Finally, I spotted my chance. I stepped into the director's path, book in hand, ready to dazzle. But here's the twist – someone else was watching this all unfold.
Therefore, my bold move to be a featured yogi at this festival led to a surprising invitation to teach at a prestigious local fitness center. Talk about a plot twist! (And to think, I almost convinced myself to stay home and "do some work".)
The Audition
"So You Think You Can Teach!"
The audition process to land a teaching spot was intense. Picture this: 200 eager yogis vying for 40 coveted spots. They shut us all in the same room. The energy was electric. The competition was fierce. You had to lead the competition through your 4-minute audition sequence.
At 47, I found myself in a sea of young, charismatic, TALENTED instructors. Talk about a humbling moment!
My strategy? Lean hard into experience, be gentle with your precision, and show them your passion. I volunteered to go first, setting the bar... somewhere.
Certainly not the most entertaining or energetic performance. But I had an ace up my sleeve – relentless follow-up and a judge on the panel who had already witnessed my perseverance.
Therefore, despite not being the shiniest yogi in the room, I'm now optimistic about landing one of those 40 spots. Persistence for the win!
Investing in Growth
The Dirty South Yoga Festival Gamble
Remember that festival I was too late to teach at? Well, I decided to double down and invest in my first vendor spot. Nearly $1,000 in materials later, I was ready to conquer. (setting up a booth is like furnishing a small apartment! so much stuff!)
My goal? Sell 22 books to break even. The reality? I sold 9. Ouch.
While I didn't hit my sales goal, those 9 books came with a bonus – 179 new email subscribers. I offered my "Art of Attention Healing Cards" in exchange for newsletter signups, creating a direct line to potential future clients and students.
Therefore, what looked like a financial flop turned into a goldmine of potential future clients. Sometimes, the real treasure isn't in cash!
The Unexpected Lesson
Know Thy Audience
The festival experience taught me an invaluable lesson about knowing your audience (something I am teaching next week inside of Tabernacle 9.0). Having a booth gives you a chance to strike up conversations with people. Good, fun, and honest conversations. Ah, I met so many beautiful people last weekend!
I arrived at the festival ready to wow everyone with my advanced offerings. But I quickly realized something crucial – my audience wasn't there yet. They weren't looking for Tabernacle. They were seeking guidance on getting back into teaching yoga.
Therefore, this insight is reshaping my entire post-festival email strategy.
I'm pivoting to address their immediate needs, gently guiding them towards my teacher and practitioner courses. It's not about changing the destination; it's about adjusting the route.
The Ripple Effect
When Determination Inspires
Here's the beautiful surprise in all of this hustle: people notice.
They see the relentless promotion; your unwavering belief in your work.
Therefore, I witnessed three women go out of their way to help sell my creations and offer me new opportunities. I could cry right now thinking about those three angels: Thank you Angela, Candace, and Malerie! Their support echoed a powerful mantra from my retreat days: "I see you and your power to change the world."
From Adversity to Thriving
The Journey Continues
My path has been anything but straight – from battling addiction to embracing artistry, from leading chakra retreats to navigating single motherhood in a cutthroat world.
However, recent subconscious processing work with Lauren Zander and Monika Tschuggnall has led to breakthroughs. My own faith in my work IS the prosperity I'm seeking.
Therefore, as I continue this wild journey, I'm filled with excitement to share every twist and turn with you. Whether it's landing that teaching gig (I'll keep you posted) or turning 179 email leads into devoted clients, I'm all in.
Remember, your perseverance isn't just about you – it's a beacon of inspiration for others. Keep pushing, keep creating, keep believing.
Created my formulas this week:
Morning Ritual
During the next 90 days, I will attend 4 classes a week of Yoga at 9:45am or 2:30pm at Highland Yoga.
Work Routine
During the next 90 days, I will partake in 2 hours of newsletter writing and design every Wednesday at noon from my computer.
Evening Habit
During the next 90 days, I will listen to at least 20 minutes of subconscious processing on the topic of success on weeknights as I fall asleep in my bed.
Ask me anything about these formulas!
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is a habit.
What I'm Loving:
The book Manage Your Day-to-Day: Build Your Routine, Find Your Focus, and Sharpen Your Creative Mind by 99U.
What I'm Celebrating:
Tabernacle 9.0 sold out! Another point on perseverance because we had our final Resident sign up the day after our launch date. It is never too late!
And there you have it, fellow seekers! This week's lesson: when the world says "no," your perseverance whispers, "Watch me." Listen to that whisper.
Until our paths cross again next Sunday, keep creating, keep persisting, keep shining!
Onward and upward,
Erica
P.S. Here's a wild idea: instead of staying home to "do some work" this week, why not get your butt out there and sell what you've made? Sometimes, the most useful thing you can do is take that big, scary step. Who knows? Your next big break might be just around the corner, but you gotta show up to find out! ✨
