Clarity in Number : Birthday Sale Breakdown
This week, I'm taking you behind the scenes of my recent birthday sale. Why? Because I believe in the power of transparency and sharing both the highs and lows of this solopreneurial journey. Plus, there's something charming about celebrating wins together.
The Birthday Sale by the Numbers
- 📊 Subscribers: 728
- 📧 Emails Delivered: 99.9% (5,039 total)
- 👀 Opened: 53.1% (2,679 total)
- 🖱️ Clicked: 4.8% (243 total)
- 🛒 Customers: 60
- 💰 Net Revenue: $7,812.89 USD
Seeing these numbers laid out feels both exhilarating and humbling. Each interaction represents a real person taking time out of their day to engage with what I have to offer. It's a responsibility I don't take lightly.
The Email Strategy
Over six days, I sent one email a day, each with a specific focus:
1. A teaser for the upcoming sale
2. The sale announcement with 47% off select services
3. Spotlight on the popular Chakra Bundle
4. Sharing a life-changing Kundalini experience (this one really resonated!)
5. Offering a Done-With-You Design collaboration
6. A heartfelt thank you
The most surprising outcome? The email about my personal experience performed exceptionally well, reinforcing the power of authenticity and personal connection.
What Worked Well
1. The 47% discount hit the sweet spot for many.
2. The Chakra Bundle was a clear favorite (so I pivoted the email strategy and wrote about it on day three.)
3. Sharing personal stories created deeper connections to the curriculum I was selling.
4. The design collaboration offer added a unique, personal touch.
Lessons Learned
- Authenticity trumps everything. Be real, be you. Your people are on your list because they want to know your unique thoughts and opinions. They are ready and excited to learn from you—which means it is time to show up and teach!
- A well-planned email sequence can significantly boost engagement. The truth is your people want to hear from you; that is why they signed up! But if you don't have a strategy and you fail to connect with them consistently, you will lose their attention.
- Offering a variety of services/products allows different needs to be met. Here's a plot twist in my usual "keep your product suite simple" narrative — offering a variety of services and products can be a game-changer, especially for seasoned solopreneurs. While I typically advise my Tabernacle Residents to focus on one high-ticket offering with an upsell and downsell, my recent birthday sale taught me something valuable. Those digital products gathering dust in your library (you know, the ones you created 4+ years ago?) They don't sell themselves anymore, but they still hold immense value.
By strategically reintroducing these older products alongside your current focus, you not only boost sales but also showcase your evolution and meet a wider range of client needs. It's not about complicating your business; it's about maximizing the value of your existing work. So, start with simplicity, but don't be afraid to dust off those older gems during special promotions. Your past creations are part of your legacy and might be exactly what someone needs right now.

Expressing gratitude strengthens our community. Lately, I've been reconnecting with what I truly love in business—mentoring, designing, and being a mirror for my clients. It's easy to get caught up in what we *should* do, forgetting what we ***love*** doing. This shift has filled me with immense gratitude, reminding me that when we operate from a place of alignment and thankfulness, we uplift our entire community. It's not just about strengthening connections; it's about rediscovering our purpose.

What I'm working on:
This week, (thanks to my coach), I've embraced the BAB (Before-After-Bridge) framework for my sales emails, and it's been a real writer's breakthrough. I find people to be more discerning and the digital marketplace more complicated; therefore, storytelling is key. If leads are slow, infuse your marketing messages with vivid before-and-after scenarios. The BAB approach showcases real transformations, reinforcing trust and demonstrating your offering's value. People are still buying — they just need to see themselves in your story of change.
What I'm loving:
Canva's print feature is a revelation! Don't get me wrong - InDesign remains my go-to for book layouts, but Canva's one-click printing has blown my mind. This week alone, I've printed banners, posters, and flyers directly from the platform. And it saved my butt when I realized late Friday night I needed all this in 7 days! The real game-changer? I've transferred the entire Tabernacle Creative Process into a Canva workbook, allowing my non-designer Residents to submit work I can easily edit for them.
What I'm celebrating:
Noa's first day of kindergarten was bittersweet! We witnessed the first-grade rose ceremony, where eighth-graders welcomed the new first-graders. I held back tears imagining Noa accepting a rose next year — my baby's growing up! 😢 Alas, our celebration was cut short as a fever kept her home the rest of the week. Here's to a fresh re-start next week!
You know what I realized this week? Your Feedback
Your engagement and feedback guide what I send out, and I'm excited by the responses that came through after Issue One. Many of you passionately urged, "Don't take away your stylized emails!" You've reminded me that the visual flair (I just re-watched Office Space ; ) in my emails is part of what makes our connection unique. I'm still committed to seeing this new Spiritual Soloprenuers Survival Guide product through, aiming for a more relaxed way of speaking to you over the next 90 days. But rest assured – those eye-catching, stylized emails aren't going anywhere. After all, as one of you beautifully put it, "I always admire your unique style of email." Your words fuel my creativity and remind me why I love what I do. While still embracing both substance and style!
And that's all!
Here's to many more birthdays, celebrations, and shared successes!
Until next Sunday,
Erica
