Why Discovery Calls Matter More Than Ever
I'll be honest - the discovery call might seem old school in our world of "Buy Now" buttons. But when you're offering transformative work (like Tabernacle's $4,800 program), these calls aren't just about sales - they're about new beginnings. Let's talk about it!

A First Date
Discovery Calls
Picture this: It's 12:30 PM on a Monday. I'm sitting in my favorite spot - the sun-drenched corner of my office, ceramic tea mug with "eat your frog" on it (IYKYK) - about to hop on a discovery call. My heart is racing a little โ not from nerves, but from excitement. Because I know something most people don't: this "sales call" isn't really about sales at all.
It's about the potential.
You see, last week, during a discovery call, a creative (let's call her Sarah) started telling me about her struggles with launching her healing business. But underneath her words, I was heading a yearning to link her spiritual gifts and her dream business.
Halfway through our call, she paused and said,
"This is the first time I've felt truly seen with my business ides."
That's the thing about my discovery callsโthey're not your typical "let me tell you about my program" conversations. They're sacred spaces where we can talk about your potential before you even join Tabernacle.
No really?!
What Happens During Our Calls
Here's what you can expect when you book a discovery call with me:
First, we breathe. Seriously! Before diving into business talk, we take a moment to land in our bodies and set intentions. (Yeah, I'm that kind of business mentor ๐)
Then, I ask if I can take notes. Not just on your words, but to the dreams hiding between them. Like when a recent caller thought she needed help with social media strategy, but what she really needed was permission to show up and be seen online. She was a saboteur!
We explore your relationship with your work:
- What lights you up?
(the seduction phase) - Where do you feel stuck?
(me, learning your limiting beliefs) - What's that whisper in your heart saying about your next step?
(you, teaching me about your highest self)
And sometimes, the most powerful moment is when I say, "Actually, I don't think Tabernacle is right for you... yet."
This moment often surprises people, but it's one of the most honest gifts I can give. Because Tabernacle isn't about filling spots โ it's about creating a culture where every Resident can truly thrive.
When the timing or fit isn't quite right, acknowledging that creates space for something even better to emerge, both for the individual and for the entire cohort.

What These Calls Reflect Back to You
Even if you don't end up joining Tabernacle, here's what you'll walk away with:
- A lightbulb moment about where you're really stuck
(hint: it's usually not where you think) - A clear understanding of what you truly need right now
- Permission to dream bigger than you've allowed yourself
- At least one practical step you can take immediately
- And sometimes, a redirection to resources that better serve your current needs
Remember my client Susanna from a previous week's newsletter? Before she became one of my star Residents, we had two discovery calls over six months. Why? Because timing matters and readiness can't be rushed.
Readiness can't be rushed
Or can it?
The saying goes that the route to Carnegie Hall is paved with practice, practice, practice. But with creative work and business dreams - there is a different between practice and being ready.
I'm not talking about being prepared. Preparation isn't the same as ready. Ready is an emotional choice, the decision to put something into the world and say, "Here, I made this." The emotional choice of exposing ourselves and being seen and possibly rejected.
Discovery calls is something I've been doing since my retreat work in 2010. The paradox is obvious: the more important the idea, the harder it is to feel ready.
Stop waiting for ready. Because ready isn't a destination - it's a decision. And if you wait until you feel completely ready, you might be waiting forever.
Here's my invitation: Let's talk now. Not when you have everything figured out. Not when your website is perfect or your offering is polished. Now. Because the world needs what only you can bring - and sometimes...
If you wait until you are ready, it is almost certainly too late.
BOOK YOUR DISCOVERY CALL WITH ME
What I'm Working On :
Creating an even more sacred container for our discovery calls. This week, I'm incorporating oracle cards into my pre-call ritual. (Should I pull a card for your call? Book your "no-pressure" session!)
Create to bridge the gap between the known and the unknown.
Create to give voice to the unspoken.
Create to remember whatโs easily forgotten.
Create to give form to the material.
Create to open your eyes to new possibilities.
What I'm Loving:
The "aha" moments that happen when someone realizes they're not actually behind or "too late" โ they're right on time for their journey.
You can only create what you can imagine.
What I'm Celebrating:
A powerful discovery call this week where we both knew within 15 minutes that it wasn't the right time for Tabernacle โ and that realization led to an even better path forward.
The most beautiful paths are the ones we stumble upon.

If something in your soul stirred while reading this- like that feeling when you just know something is right for you - I'd love to talk.
These calls are the best part of my week because I get to meet amazing people like you who have big dreams for their spiritual businesses. When we talk, we're not focused on price tags or signing up - we're just two people exploring if we could create something amazing together.
The business stuff comes later - first, let's just connect and see if there is potential.
Book your discovery call by hitting this button below or replying to this email. Yes, I'll pull an Oracle card just for you before we chat!
With soulful support,
Erica
P.S. Want to know my secret for making these calls so powerful? I treat each one like it's the only conversation that matters that day. Because for that person, in that moment, it is. Ready to be that person? You know what to do! ๐ซ
